I månadens Yachting World var ett reportage om Grand Soleil 43:an Roark som blev månadens båt eftersom den blev bästa båt individuellt i Rolex Commodore’s Cup med ett IRC TCC på 1,113.
The 2008 Rolex Commodore’s Cup was probably the most competitive series in the history of the event. The highly fancied Irish teams were entirely made up of custom built yachts, designed to win under IRC, as was the victorious British Team. But the most successful individual yacht was a production boat from Holland, Kees Kaan’s Grand Soleil 43, Roark.
Conceived as a fast, elegant cruiser, the Botin Carkeek design was intended to be easily driven, with generous stability and exciting performance in all conditions. While the boat performs well under both IMS and IRC rules, the design was never specifically optimized for either.
