Stagg Yachts, Inc. is pleased to announce that USWatercraft, LLC, of Portsmouth, RI is set to begin production of new M 30 One Design sailboats. USWatercraft has been building Farr 40s since 2003 and is now ready to reactivate the M 30 tooling and begin building boats for this popular international one design class. “USWatercraft is pleased to have the opportunity to help in the effort to grow this exciting class. Not only by supplying new boats, parts and service but through the support & promotion of events worldwide,” states Randy Borges, Waterline Systems President. “The truth is I have never met anyone who did not enjoy sailing the boats so why not support it!”
The timing could not be better to begin production in Rhode Island, as the Class will be holding its 2008 World Championship in Newport, RI on October 1-4. The class is currently enjoying a resurgence in popularity world wide, and these new boats should prove to be in high demand. “The M 30 provides a grand prix racing experience at a reasonable cost,” states M 30 Class President Nelson Stephenson when asked about the popularity of the boat. “After 11 years of racing in the M 30 Class I have not found a better platform that involves each member of the crew in a quality racing experience. In light, moderate or heavy wind conditions the M 30 produces a fun ride. Great Competition, fun sailing venues and a boat that rewards preparation and sailing ability while improving your sailing skills – that is the M 30.”
“We are very encouraged by the strong interest we have been receiving in the M 30 recently,” says Geoff Stagg, whose company, Stagg Yachts, Inc. is the sales office for the M 30 and also provides professional class management for the M 30 Class Association. “Through our experience of working with Randy and his team on the Farr 40, I know they will be able to deliver a boat of extremely high quality that meets our strict one design standards. We have begun production by placing a three boat order, of which two boats are still available.” The new boats built at US Watercraft will be the first M 30s with a standard deck package comprised primarily of Harken Yacht Equipment. The first boats out of the molds are scheduled for completion in late spring.
